A different view of the Callanish Stones.

It's pretty cool what you can do with a couple of torches. I took a load of shots at the Callanish stones tonight. None are edited, just as shot with long exposures, a mini Maglight and a 1,000,000 candle power torch. It's my first real go at painting with light and I'm pretty pleased with the results.
This is probably one of my favourites. Taken just before I packed up.

My first attempt with the Maglite and floodlight. The moon was so bright you can see the shadows it casts in all the pictures.

I've taken plenty more which I'll probably load up soon.

  1. I'm glad you found that cable! Those are as awesome photos as I have seen. I wish that your Paternal Grandpa could see them. He would be soooo proud of you. As am I!

  2. These are stunning........not a sign of The Ghost Of Gaz......Usually manage to get myself in. Not that I've ever produced anything to compare with these.
The third is my pick I like the star trails.

  3. The forth has to be my favorite. Could easily be straight out of some sci-fi or fantasy film -- maybe a scene from Doctor Who or something with electricity arcing around. Absolutely brilliant!

  4. My goodness, Gaz! I've never seen anything like this - you are SO creative and motivated. These are amazing. I just love to witness the effect of creative passion - you are a passionate Photographer! Thank you for sharing these with us :)

  5. A nice look with a nice light.I just love this.
    -maglite torches

  6. I can hardly even imagine how you did this... I'm very impressed. I still think the fifth one is my favourite though...

  7. You certainly know how to take a good photograph... this is electrifying !!
.... does anyone want to buy my two cameras !! I need a bit more patience to experiment with shutter speeds.

  8. Wow, these are amazing. I know the theory but these are far more interesting than anything I've seen in the photo mags. I like the top one but the fourth one with that electricity effect is clever.

  9. fantastic captures and light painting; the long exposures gives it a more ethereal feel
