North, South, East and West

Firstly The Butt of Lewis

Next, not quite as south as you can get but Horgabost beach in Harris is getting there

A view from my Dad's house in Point on the east coast

Finally Dalbeg beach on the west coast

As I've just been on the islands I thought I'd load a small selection of my Isle of Lewis pictures. Unfortunately I was incapacitated due to a badly sprained ankle so couldn't get out and about too much. It's the perfect time of year to take photos up there at the moment as the dreaded midgy hasn't come into full force just yet.

  4. These are really amazing views and I love how you've caught the "drama" of the nature in them. I've never been on Lewis (but I have been to Scotland as far north as Loch Ness, way back in the 70s). That third view above is getting rather familiar to me by now - after having followed GB's blog(s) over the past year... ;) - but I continue to be amazed how the same view can look different in different sorts of light. And that bit of rainbow really catches the eye.

  5. The Midges in Glencoe made it onto the mornbing national news this morning! Needless to say there were all sorts of 'remedies' and repellents suggested. Leaving the area seemed to be the only one likely to work!!

  6. I read recently in the paper that there's now even a midgy ap for the iphone. Gives you midgy forecast. Areas likely to be affected (i.e. whole of Scotland) and quantity of the little blighters. Think you would be better using your iphone to call a cab and just avoid them.

  7. Superb photos Gaz. As for the midges I went out first thing to fill the bird feeders. I managed to get 14 bites (that I can count) in about 45 seconds. I'll not do that in my dressing gown on a still damp morning again!

  8. Nice one Gaz, the clarity and colour in the coastal pics is awesome! Did you use a stand?

The contrast between the West and East coast is a lot like New Zealands.

    Keep em coming!
